The Oakland Golden Grizzlies hosted the traveling Cleveland State Vikings for a Women’s Volleyball match. The Golden Grizzlies, in the end, took the match, finishing 3 sets to 1.

Set 1 looked to be a rout, with Oakland taking an early lead over the Vikings. However, Cleveland State rallied back before losing a grip on the set again, with the Golden Grizzlies taking it home 25-18.

Looking to repeat the first set, Oakland was faced with a Cleveland State group that was determined to not have that happen. This showed in their play, as the set would come down to the wire. In what was a close set, it took extra play for the Golden Grizzlies to win it 27-25.

The tide shifted in Set 3, in which Cleveland State established an early lead. This was no back-and-forth affair, as the Vikings stole the set in commanding fashion 25-17.

Oakland would go on, however, to shut down an even more competitive 4th set from the Vikings, one that had a multitude of ties and lead changes.

Ultimately coming down to 24-24 and having to win by two, the Golden Grizzlies outlasted the Vikings' effort and won 29-27. #17 Gentry Brown led Oakland with 10 kills.

Oakland is now 11-8 on the year and 5-2 within the Horizon League.

The Golden Grizzlies stay home and host visiting Milwaukee for Homecoming, on October 13th at 6pm and then Green Bay on October 14th at 4pm.
