The OU Credit Union O'rena was home to a lively match of volleyball Saturday, October 28th, with it being Volleyween Night. Unfortunately for the Golden Grizzlies, the 'spirit' of the crowd didn't equate to a win.

Things looked bright for Oakland after the 1st set. The Golden Grizzlies began the set down by as much as 4 early but went on two separate runs to take an 11-9 lead, highlighted by numerous Patti Cesarini and Ella Martin kills.

The visiting Raiders took note of this urgency coming from the Golden Grizzlies, scoring 5 points straight, through kills and smartly forced errors. Another run ensued for Oakland but it still ultimately fell 21-25.

The 2nd set was the inverse of the 1st. Wright State was simply put, dominant. It took the set 25-11.

Thankfully for the Golden Grizzlies, the tide shifted for 3rd set, though it took a mighty effort. Oakland was up by a comfortable margin for most of the set until the Raiders stormed back to tie the set at 17. From there, it was a closely contested battle. Deuce rules had to commence after two Reilly Zegunis kills tied it at 24-24. The Golden Grizzlies ultimately came away with it 29-27.

Wright State closed out the match in commanding fashion, taking its third set 25-18.

Patti Cesarini led the Golden Grizzlies with 14 kills.

Oakland now sits at 15-11 on the season and 9-5 in Horizon League play. It travels for its next game, November 3rd, against Cleveland State.
